If we do nothing, the entire Pacific Ocean will be toxic. That is from Chile to California and up the coast to Alaska, from Australia and New Zealand to India. That includes China, Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Burma, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and India. That toxicity is already spreading to Africa. It is 3,218 miles or 5,177.76 Kilometers from Tokyo to Calcutta India but San Diego California is 5,576.52 miles or 8,974.29 kilometers which means that Asia will be toxic before the end of 2013 with Africa to follow soon afterwards. And then it will be the turn of the people who call the Atlantic Ocean home.
I would like to remind people something I have written about a few times in the past. America has 27 aging nuclear power reactors on active earthquake fault lines that are long overdue for a quake. California has two nuclear power plants at risk but the American Midwest has 25 plants near the New Madrid fault which was last active more than 200 years ago. Prior to that the last New Madrid quake was 111 years before on Christmas day 1699. If you have never personally experienced a major earthquake, please consider this: An 8.35 earthquake releases 50 megatons of explosive power which is equal to two 25 megaton Hydrogen bombs. The San Francisco earthquake of 1906 was centered 100 miles to the Northwest of the city. A road 80 miles from the epicenter was thrown 20 feet.
I would like to ask if you know of any politician or pundit who is organizing a campaign to immediately shut down all 27 of these nuclear reactors and to safely dispose of their fuel rods?
If we do nothing, America could within a year or two be an unlivable toxic waste dump. It would only be a matter of time before the entire northern Hemisphere became uninhabitable. That is home to 90% of the world’s population. Maybe the rich have been buying large estates in Patagonia Argentina.
I would like to add that blowing up the Bushehr reactor in Iran is a really stupid idea. It is an active gigawatt reactor producing electricity. The Iranians do not have a nuclear weapons program there is nothing to negotiate. You must enrich uranium to 95% to have a sustained nuclear reaction and produce a nuclear bomb. Iran has produced 20% enriched uranium for its nuclear medicine industry. Medicine is an allowed peaceful use of nuclear power as is electricity. If any nation but Israel threatened to blow up a peaceful gigawatt reactor which would kill tens of millions of people around the world, we would tell them they are insane. So why does Israel always get a free pass?
It is past time we did something about lowering the level of radiation emitted into the atmosphere. We can begin with Depleted Uranium which has been radiating American troops and anyone who lives near either a war zone or an American firing range or lives downwind. When you add the radiation released from Fukushima to the radiation that will be released from 27 nuclear power plants on American earthquake fault lines, you have a prescription for human extinction.

You are bloody well right, Horse. It seems if Fukushima is not adressed the way you suggest we are all (also these elite ego’s imo, they too will have to dance this tango even in Urguay, the southern hemisphere will be polutted in a later phase) dancing in the volcano instead of on the volcano.

question to the author….. the tone of your whole piece was that these power plants are dangerous if a catastrophe was to hit….. yet you defend Iran to have them….. why should ANY one have these? Yes, I understand that they do have “peaceful” purposes, but hasn’t our technology evolved far enough that it is no longer needed? I mean with solar, hydroelectric, electromagnetic, wind and other true forms of renewable energy, that does NOT damage the environment we live in available….. why are we going to continue to destroy the very environment that sustains our life for “cheap” power???
They built their nuclear power plant far underground. It would be safer than anything we built in case of an accidental meltdown.
Iran has the same right as any other nation to engage in commerce.
They are not building a nuclear bomb.
If Israel gets the US to blow up the Iranian power plant, the resulting meltdown would reach the atmosphere thanks to the bombs and kill an estimated 30 million people.
I personally favor the release of hidden US Tesla technology so we can take down all nuclear power plants worldwide before earth changes start causing meltdowns.
The US has 2 nuclear power plants in California and a dozen near the New Madrid fault zone that could kill 310 million Americans.
