The Corporate news headline was deceptively nice. Senate passes first budget resolution in 4 years. A rider was introduced by Senator Mikulski of Maryland that critics have called the Monsanto Protection Act. The “biotech rider” would require the USDA to approve the harvest and sale of crops from genetically modified seed even if a court has ruled the environmental studies on the crop were inadequate.
This bill needed two Senators out of 50 voting Yea to switch sides and vote No to be defeated.
This bill does allow genetic damage to humans. Please note that the gene spliced into corn by the Epicyte Corporation has to be approved by the USDA even if a court ever does object to the fact that it does intentionally sterilize humans who eat it. Senate Democrats should count more than two persons of integrity in their ranks.
Senators Pryor and Begich crossed party lines and bravely voted No. Max Baucus who allowed a former Health industry lobbyist on his staff to write the Obamacare bill also voted No. I give the Republicans who voted Nay no credit as they were voting on party lines against the budget.

I found the list of votes here though any errors would be mine,
Taking the final vote on the temporary appropriations bill is NOT the appropriate way to determine who was supportive of the language referred to as the “Monsanto Protection Act”. In fact, this is the second time this particular language has been included in an appropriations bill — take a look at the 2013 Ag Appropriations bill. You seem to think that Baucus and Begich are the only 2 senators opposing the language because they voted Nay on the entire bill. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Take a look at this article http://www.motherjones.com/tom-philpott/2012/07/gmo-industry-flexes-its-muscles-capitol-hill
Max Baucus is definitely in the pocket of big ag — while Bernie Sanders tried to get an amendment for GMO labelling and Jon Tester sponsored an amendment to specifically strip the Monsanto protection act language from the bill which just passed the Senate.
You can not make judgments so simplistically.
I said in the article that I give the Republicans no credit for voting Np.
I did credit Democrats Pryor and Begich for voting No.
I an waiting for that vote to allow Israel to declare war for us.
