Robert Heinlein’s first novel, “For Us, the Living” was not published until after his death. His views on war struck me as sensible. He described the War Voting Act which required a vote of those eligible to serve in a war before a war could be declared. Those who voted for the war will be the first to be drafted, to be followed by those who did not bother to vote. Finally, the last to be called to serve in the war are those who voted No.
He also in this novel revealed his solution to the West’s economic woes. He borrowed heavily from Canada’s Social Credit party which paralleled the works of President Lincoln and Professor Irving Fisher.
If we still had Lincoln’s Greenbacks, we would not have a $32 trillion national debt and not have paid $706 billion interest on that debt last year. Professor Irving Fisher and Clifford Douglas, the British engineer who developed Social Credit, believed the Treasury Department should create both paper money and checking account money without interest. That would eliminate both bank runs and Depressions. 3 million or more Americans (of 123 million alive in 1929) starved to death because of fractional reserve banking. Currently, checking account money is loaned into circulation with $100 allowed to be created for every $10 deposited. By 1933 the US money supply contracted 31% causing a horrendous economic contraction.
In current dollar terms Social Credit and 100% money would save us $706 billion in taxes as there would be no national debt. We could easily increase US money supply 4% a year without inflation. The US money supply is $21,500 billion which means the Treasury could spend $860 billion into circulation. The US allows the Criminal Enterprise known as the Federal government to steal at least $500 billion a year from taxpayers which they give to Wall Street Bankers and other assorted criminals.
Social Credit would gave each citizen their share of $1,350 billion in an effort to stop Depressions.
I would prefer to seize assets that have been stolen from us and use them to fund Debt cancellation. If Treasury bonds were cancelled, we would save $706 billion a year from interest payments bringing our total to over $2,026 billion in total Social Credits to be distributed. This is greater than the total income taxes collected.
I would not want to turn Social Credit into a welfare program. I would propose that only married couples with an income over $100,000 a year or single people making $50,000 pay taxes. I would give $10,000 a year in cash to support the first child, $6,000 to support the second and $2,000 for each additional one.
We could easily cut a lot from federal, state and local spending by issuing federal voter ID cards with magnetic strips just like bank cards. People would only be allowed to vote once. The magnetic strip would indicate their ability as either a citizen or immigrant to work.
Middle class Americans do not realize that millions of people have multiple Social Security cards. Typically, a man might have one ID to work, another to collect unemployment and a third to collect welfare. Or some might have half a dozen to just collect welfare. Offer everyone amnesty if they come forward with multiple IDs. We would eliminate them from the rolls and rescue many state and local budgets.
If illegal aliens can no longer vote, collect benefits or get jobs, we can easily raise the effective minimum wage to $17 an hour. A married couple working 80 hours a week would make $70,720 a year plus $10,00 for the first child and $6,000 for their second. That means a married, unskilled working couple with 2 children would have a total after tax income of $86,720 a year.
That is as opposed to the Criminal Enterprise in Washington which gives Bankers the right to charge us interest on money they created out of nothing. This transfers all wealth from us to them while creating Booms, Busts and very soon a Hyperinflationary Depression that will kill a few billion people if we do nothing.
Putin has cancelled his annual end of the year Ask Me Anything press conference. I think it is because he knows Russia will be involved in a Big Push towards Kiev from Belarus either just before or after Christmas depending on the weather in both Belarus which will be OK before Christmas in Minsk or just after for Kiev. The title refers to the 12 day of Christmas from Western Christmas on 12-25 to Orthodox Christmas on January 6th, the Epiphany. I think the Ukraine will collapse so quickly that Putin will offer a ceasefire just before Orthodox Christmas so soldiers in the field can surrender.
